Princess Catherine (Kate) Middleton, Duchess of Cambridge, gives birth to a prince. He is later named Louis Arthur Charles. This is the third child for the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge. The baby boy is the fifth-in-line to the throne.


1564: William Shakespeare is born. He dies on the same day 52 years later.

1851: The Three-Pence Beaver, Canada’s first postage stamp, designed by Sir Sandford Fleming and issued. It is the first pictorial stamp in the world that does not depict a monarch.

1965Rolling Stones perform at their first Canadian show at the Maurice Richard Arena in Montreal.

1985: Coca-Cola changes the formula for it’s Coke and launches New Coke. The public rejects the New Coke and it is quickly pulled from shelves.

2005: The first YouTube video is posted – The 18-second clip “Me at the zoo” shows co-founder Jawed Karim at San Diego Zoo. It has been viewed more than 48 million times (2018).
