Two prisoners have escaped from a maximum security jail in the Colombia after getting a guard drunk and convincing him to let them go to go buy more alcohol

BBC:

The two fugitives were identified as Jhon Gutiérrez Rincón, a Farc rebel who was sentenced to 40 years in prison for kidnapping in 2003, and Olmedo Vargas, who had recently demobilised from the Farc rebel group but who was awaiting trial for alleged theft.

The prison authorities said they had not been able to detect any damage to the structure of the prison or its gates and they were therefore working on the assumption that a guard colluded to help them escape.

7 Marathons, 7 Days, 7 Continents — Becca Pizzi to attempt it a second time!

William J. Kole, writing for the Associated Press:

The Massachusetts marathoner, who won the 2016 World Marathon Challenge — seven marathons in seven days on all seven continents — will attempt to become the only person to twice complete the odyssey, which begins in Antarctica on Jan. 30 and ends in Miami on Feb. 5.

Why? “I’m certifiably crazy,” the Belmont woman jokes.

The Associated Press caught up with Pizzi, 37, a single mom with a singular mission:

AP: Why in God’s name would you do this again?

Pizzi: The locations! I get to run marathons in Novo, Antarctica; Cape Town, South Africa; Perth, Australia; Dubai, United Arab Emirates; Lisbon, Portugal; Cartagena, Colombia; and Miami. I love to run and I love to travel. I’m literally seeing more of the world, which is really fun for me.
